    Of Image and Images

I was going to cover Lordi, Babymetal, and Sabaton concert only in photos and had zero plans for writing about it. However, the way subsequent events unfolded prompted me not only to put my thoughts into words in the following essay but also mainly to focus on the importance of image, and especially on the importance of an image to the image.

    Incineration Festival 2023

Once again Incineration Festival returns to London, confirming that the Earth has once more completed its orbit of that big burning thing in the sky (I confess, I am a fan of that heliocentric idea). Getting Into: Skyclad

Skyclad formed in 1990 by Martin Walkyier (then ex-Sabbat, now again a member) and guitarist Steve Ramsey (Satan, ex-Pariah), with the goal of creating the “ultimate pagan metal band”. Of course, pagan metal now means something quite different, but here is ostensibly where it all began. The band name itself is a term from the Wicca religion, meaning “clad in the sky”, i.e. ritual nudity, and at the beginning, their themes revolved a lot about pagan traditions, while becoming more overtly political as time went by.

Abattoir's Concert Hunt - Alestorm (Live In Zagreb, 15.11.2023)

In general, the year 2023 hasn’t been rich with concert attending for me due to different reasons, especially this autumn, even though there...
